4 Bainbridge pitchers team up for no-hitter in 9-0 victory over Westover

Four pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter for Bainbridge Bearcats Varsity in a 9-0 victory in seven innings over Westover on Monday at Paul Eames Complex.

Stanton Long, Cayden McQuaig, Russell Wheeler, and Tyler Braswell tallied 11 strikeouts and walked none in completing the no-no.

Tyler Braswell looked sharp on the bump. Tyler Braswell held Westover hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Bainbridge Bearcats Varsity beat Westover thanks to 10 hits, including two extra base hits. Bainbridge Bearcats Varsity scored four runs in the sixth on Bainbridge Bearcats Varsity scored in the sixth on a hit by pitch, a groundout by Seth Hall, and a passed ball.

Keith Lyle led Bainbridge Bearcats Varsity’s offensive threat, as he got on base three times in the game. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the second inning.

Malik Mathis was charged with the loss. He allowed six runs in 4 2/3 innings, walked three and struck out four.

The game was never in doubt after the first, as Bainbridge Bearcats Varsity scored three runs on two singles.

Bainbridge Bearcats Varsity scored one run in the second inning, and then followed it up with one more in the fifth. In the second, Bainbridge Bearcats Varsity scored on an error, bringing home Lyle.
