Hurricane Dorian: The Latest from The National Weather Service

Hurricane Dorian is expected to impact the Florida peninsula some time later this weekend as a major storm.  While the exact path and intensity are still UNKNOWN, predictions show the possibility of a “double impact” as the storm crosses Florida, into the Gulf of Mexico and makes landfall a second time along the Gulf coast.  Alternatively, the storm could also shift more to the North and avoid the Gulf altogether.  Now is the time to start preparations.

“Hurricane Dorian is forecast to become a Major hurricane as it nears the east coast of Florida late this weekend. The confidence in the forecast track over the next few days as well as the forecast for gradual strengthening comes with a fair amount of confidence. Beyond that, including where the Hurricane impacts Florida initially, and subsequently its track as it possibly enters the Gulf of Mexico early next week remains highly uncertain” — NWS
