PRESS RELEASE
On Friday evening, members of the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety’s Southwestern Traffic Enforcement Network (SWTEN) gathered in Bainbridge to perform several road safety checks throughout our area. At the conclusion of Friday night’s area road checks, 53 citations had been written. These citations included 6 persons who were arrested for DUI, 5 for driving on a suspended license, 6 for driving with no license, and 5 for having no insurance.
The SWTEN network is made up of officers from the following counties: Lee, Dougherty, Worth, Early, Baker, Mitchell, Colquitt, Miller, Seminole, Decatur, Grady, and Thomas. The network meets monthly in different counties on a rotating basis, and is assisted by Georgia State Patrol. Friday night’s check was organized by Capt. Jack Bunting of Bainbridge Public Safety, and was co-hosted by the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department.
The evening was kicked off with a meal at the Cloud Livestock Building, and was followed by a brief statement of guidelines before the officers dispersed to their locations.
The SWTEN network is grateful for the following sponsors who helped make Friday night’s safety check possible: American Pawn, Tractor Supply, Stone’s Home Centers, SP Travel Center, Matt Baty, Casey Alday Photography, Healing Hands, Rathel’s Towing, Care 360, Sharber Oil, Jimmy’s Towing, The American, Reeves Gifts, Bonnie Blue, Brinson Bonding, and Anytime Fitness.
