At about 3:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, multiple fire and sheriff departments as well as the Community Ambulance Service responded to a fire on Strawberry Road in Mitchell County. Upon arrival, emergency responders found a pole barn fully engulfed.
According to a facebook post by County Line Fire Department, the pole barn contained 2 automobiles, multiple hay bales, and a camper, all of which were declared a total loss. The responding units battled the blaze and shuttled water from area farmers’ wells and city hydrants. Finally, around 6:00 a.m., the fire was extinguished.
According to Casey Grant, Chief of the County Line Fire Department, the department is always looking for more volunteers. This blaze required multiple departments including Mitchell County Sheriffs Department, Autry State Prison Fire Department, along with Pelham Fire Department and Community Ambulance.
