Decatur County is “in the landfill business,” but it appears they don’t keep “business hours.”
For the average citizen who works during the week, Saturdays are the only day they can haul trash to the county dump, roughly 20 miles south of Bainbridge. How can the public use a facility that’s only open the first and third Saturdays until noon?
Today I hauled a truck load of construction debris 22 miles one way only to realize the landfill was closed. How many other folks have done the same? When the county is struggling to find revenue, you’d think they’d have a marketing plan, at least, to get the word out about their limited hours, instead of a sign posted outside the landfill on U.S 27, 20 miles from Bainbridge. Decatur County needs to be maximizing their income opportunities, rather than making it tough for folks to spend money with them.
