AAA: Gas Prices Jump 4 Cents Per Gallon

AAA: GEORGIA PUMP PRICES RISE 4 CENTS

ATLANTA, Ga., (January 6, 2020) — Georgia gas prices continue upward trend compared to a week ago. Georgia motorists are now paying an average price of $2.46 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. Monday’s state average is 4 cents more than a week ago, 3 cents more than last month, and 41 cents more than this time last year.

It now costs $36.90 to fill a 15-gallon tank of gasoline. That is $5.70 less than what motorists paid in May of 2018, when pump prices hit their peak of $2.84 per gallon.

“The majority of states saw gas prices increase in the last week – some by as much as a nickel to a dime,” said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Americans maybe concern that this is due to the conflict in the Middle East, at this time it is just too early to speculate. The impact to consumers will be dependent on how expensive crude oil price goes and the duration at which crude sells at the higher price point in the market.”

National Average

Today’s national average is $2.58, which is 1 cent more than last week, 1 cent less than last month, and 34 cents more than this time last year.
