The North bound lanes of the Bainbridge Bypass were closed for nearly an hour Wednesday afternoon after a two vehicle accident.

According to Bainbridge Public Safety, three people (including two children) were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries following the two vehicle crash on the Shotwell Street bridge.

“Two children were occupants in one of the vehicles and were transported along with their mother to an area hospital.  Following the accident, the children’s grandmother arrived on scene to check on her family members.  We are pleased to report that no one involved in the accident sustained life-threatening injuries.” — Julie Harris, Public Information Officer, BPS

The accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon and closed both North bound lanes of the Bypass for nearly an hour while emergency personnel cleared the scene.  One vehicle partially broke through the railing of the bridge and another sustained significant damage to the rear end.
