Bainbridge Bearcats are state champions in football!

Bainbridge defeated Warner Robins 47-41 in the Georgia Class 5A State Football Championship on Tuesday evening after three overtimes.

The Warner Robins Demons gave Bainbridge a close game after the Bearcats stormed out to a 28-7 halftime lead at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga.

A large contingent of loyal Bainbridge Bearcat fans made the trip to Atlanta for Tuesday’s game, as Decatur County schools took off on December 11 to allow students, families and friends to travel.

This is the 2nd state football championship in Bainbridge High School history, as BHS also won it all in 1982. The road to the Bearcats’ championship was full of thrills, as the football team started the 2018 season with a record of 2 wins and 4 losses.

The valiant Bearcats refused to quit, finishing the season with a 10-5 record and state championships to their name. BHS defeated 5A powerhouse Buford in the state quarterfinals and edged out Stockbridge in the semifinals to gain a rematch in the title game versus Warner Robins, which defeated Bainbridge during regular season play.
