Burn Ban in Effect for Southwest Georgia

PRESS RELEASE

Due to HIGH FIRE DANGER CONDITIONS, NO OPEN BURNING IS ALLOWED in Decatur County, Seminole County, and Grady County. This includes fireworks.

GEORGIA FORESTRY COMMISSION – Temporary Suspension on ALL Outdoor Burning: Effective immediately, the Georgia Forestry Commission has implemented a temporary suspension on ALL outdoor burning due to persisting drought conditions. The suspension on outdoor burning includes all permitted fires (land clearing, pit burns and bonfires) as well as all non-permitted (burning of natural vegetation yard debris) fires. Outdoor burning will resume once conditions are within an acceptable range and the suspension has been lifted by the Georgia Forestry Commission. Individuals caught burning will be cited.
