A passing motorist saw fire and smoke pouring from the roof and doors and called 911.
Bainbridge Public Safety cut openings in the locked doors to allow access for hoses. A van was locked inside the building and also suffered fire damage.
Thanks to the call from the passerby, BPS was on the scene and able to get the fire under control within minutes.
Backup was requested because of the highly flammable nature of the materials in the building. Mutual aid assistance was provided by Decatur County Fire & Rescue, Blackjack Fire & Rescue, and Climax Fire & Rescue.
BPS will continue to monitor the scene for the next several hours and try to determine the cause of the fire.
