Aggravated Assault in Decatur County; Suspect Turns Herself In to DCSO (Updated 2/16 2:04 p.m.)

According to law enforcement, Tanya McMillan turned herself in to the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office this afternoon.  She was accompanied by her attorney.


A Decatur County woman is wanted by the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office in connection with a stabbing that occurred late Sunday afternoon.

According to Lt. Brian Donalson with the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, Decatur/Grady 911 received a call about an alleged aggravated assault on Spring Creek Road.  When Deputies Michael Musgrove and Adam Mobley arrived on scene, they made contact with neighbors who quickly led them to a man suffering from a stab wound.  According to witnesses on scene, the victim, 22 year old Zach Whitley, was stabbed by Tanya McMillan after a domestic dispute turned violent.  Whitley was transported via life flight to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

Investigator Terry Phillips and Crime Scene Investigator Gale Boyer processed the crime scene and began a search for Tanya McMillan.  It was determined that McMillan fled the area and warrants were taken out for her arrest.  At this time, she is considered a fugitive from justice.

“Tanya McMillan is wanted for the aggravated assault that occurred and has felony warrants pending against her at this time. McMillan is considered a fugitive from justice and knows she is wanted. The Decatur County Sheriffs Offices Career Criminals Unit is searching for McMillan as we speak, along with the case agent and Decatur County Sheriff’s Office deputies. Whitley’s condition is currently unknown as of this morning.” — Lt Brian Donalson
