Multiple arrests made in ‘Molly’ busts

Bainbridge Public Safety officers arrested three men on drug-related charges after finding illegal drugs in two separate incidents.

Following up on a tip about drug activity, BPS Investigator Chip Nix located Willie Fred Williams, 29, of Bainbridge, at a motel on Shotwell Street on Monday morning, Dec. 15. Accompanying Nix were BPS Deputy Director Frank Green, Chief Investigator Larry Funderburke, Investigator Chris Jordan, Investigator Mark Esquivel and Captain David Cutchin.

In a search of Williams’ car, BPS officers found marijuana and “Molly,” also known as ecstasy.  They also found digital scales, plastic baggies and more than $800 in cash on Williams’ person.

Willie Fred Williams was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, a felony.

Also on Monday morning, Bainbridge Public Safety Investigator Chip Nix made contact with two men at a house located at 519 E. Green Street after receiving a tip about possible drug activity. Accompanying Nix were BPS Deputy Director Frank Green, Larry Funderburke, Chris Jordan and Officer Jason Barlow.

The two occupants of the home were identified as Vincent Nathan Burns, 23, and Derrick Derrell Carter, 24.

BPS officers received permission to search the residence and found one bag of marijuana on Burns’ person, one bag of marijuana on Carter’s person and seven bags of “Molly,” or ecstasy, inside the residence.

Burns was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

Carter was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana.
