At the Region 1-AAAA softball playoffs, Bainbridge Lady Cats beat Crisp County 11-7 on Tuesday in the tournament’s loser’s bracket.
Mabry Grace Briggs had 5 RBIs in the game. She homered in the second inning and singled in the fifth inning.
However, Bainbridge lost to Cook County, 3-1, and was eliminated from the tournament, placing fourth.
Thomas County Central will play Cook County in the loser’s bracket today, with the winner advancing to the championship game against Worth County.
Despite the loss, Bainbridge finished in the top 4 teams in the region tournament and so will advance to a district tournament to be held next week. The Lady Bearcats will get a chance to advance to the state softball tournament, which will be held October 29-31.
What a great night, what a great season! These girls have worked hard and we couldn't be more proud. They are State Bound so y'all cheer them on!

Mabry Grace Briggs helps Bainbridge Bearcat Softball down Crisp County 11-7
Mabry Grace Briggs drove in five runs, sparking Bainbridge Bearcat Softball to an 11-7 victory in seven innings over Crisp County on Wednesday.
She homered in the second inning and singled in the fifth inning.
Abigail Gardner looked sharp in the circle for Bainbridge. Crisp County managed just one hit off of the Lady Bearcats’ pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during her 2 2/3 innings of work.
Crisp County jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the top of the first. H Meadows singled to ignite Crisp County’s offense. T Holmes singled, scoring A Meadows and Meadows. Crisp County then tacked on more runs when Phillips scored on an RBI single by N Baker and Dickerson scored on an RBI single by A Meadows.
Bainbridge Bearcat Softball went up for good in the second, scoring seven runs on a home run by Briggs and two singles.
Three runs in the top of the fifth helped Crisp County close its deficit to 8-7. A two-run single by S Peavey and an RBI single by Meadows gave Crisp County life.
Bainbridge answered Crisp County’s top inning with three runs of its own in the fifth. Bainbridge Bearcat Softball scored on a two-run single by Taylor Swanner and an RBI single by Briggs.

Bainbridge Bearcat Softball falls to Cook 3-1
Bainbridge Bearcat Softball fell to Cook 3-1 on Tuesday night at the Region 1-AAAA softball tournament.
Lexie Walker recorded the win for Cook. She allowed one run over seven innings. Walker struck out five, walked one and gave up five hits.
Reilly Fletcher was charged with the loss. She lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out two, and allowed two runs.
Bainbridge scored its only run of the game on an RBI single by Tori Sprenkle in the first inning.
Cook never surrendered the lead after the third inning, scoring two runs on a sacrifice fly by Cassey Cornelious.
