Bainbridge uses big second inning to defeat Miller County in softball on Thursday

The Bainbridge Lady Bearcats beat the Miller County Lady Pirates 15-6 in five innings on Thursday after a nine-run explosion in the second inning.

Bainbridge scored in the second on a single by Reilly Fletcher, an RBI double by Haley Thompson, an error, a walk by Mckynleigh Harrell, a two-run error, a two-run double by Morgan Cannon, and an RBI double by Makayla Hamilton.

Cannon racked up two RBIs on two hits for Bainbridge.

Taylor Swanner got the win for the Lady Bearcats, despite allowing five runs over two innings. Swanner struck out one, walked two and gave up four hits.

Miller County managed just one hit off of BHS relief pitcher Abigail Gardner, who allowed one earned run, walked none and struck out three during her three innings of work.

Bainbridge scored three runs in the third inning, and then followed it up with three more in the fourth. In the third, Bainbridge scored on a passed ball, bringing home Thompson.

A ground out scored Thompson to start the scoring in the inning. That was followed up by Harrell’s single, scoring Desirae Beachem.
