Bearcats defeat Americus-Sumter Panthers 11-2

A fielder’s choice, a groundout by Seth Hall, an error, an RBI double by Anderson Bailey, and an error in the first inning and an RBI double by Hall during the second inning supplied the early offense for Bainbridge Bearcats Varsity.

Bailey led Bainbridge Bearcats Varsity’s offensive threat, as he got on base three times in the game. He scored three runs and had one RBI.

Bainbridge Bearcats Varsity got the win thanks in large part to Stanton Long’s dominant, eight-strikeout performance. Long allowed two earned runs on five hits and one walk over six innings.

John Nguyen ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed 11 runs in 6 1/3 innings, walked two and struck out none.

After a quick strike from Americus-Sumter, Bainbridge Bearcats Varsity responded with one run in the second.

Bainbridge Bearcats Varsity answered Americus-Sumter’s top inning with one run of its own in the third. Bainbridge Bearcats Varsity scored on a groundout by Carson Inlow.

Bainbridge Bearcats Varsity increased its lead with four runs in the fourth. Dustin Strickland doubled, scoring Tyler Storey, Grayson Heard and Bailey to start the inning. That was followed up by Keith Lyle’s double, scoring Dustin Strickland.
