Blake Merchant did all he could to give Bainbridge Bearcats Varsity baseball team a boost, but it wasn’t enough to get past Crisp County, as Bainbridge lost 11-7 in seven innings at Bearcat Field on Tuesday.
Blake Merchant put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Bearcats. He doubled in the third and sixth innings.
L Carter got the win in relief for Crisp County. L Carter pitched one inning and allowed no runs.
Tyler Braswell was the game’s losing pitcher. He allowed eight runs in five innings, walked four and struck out four.
Crisp County jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the third. Crisp County’s rally started when L Carter singled. A single by Campbell then moved L Carter from first to second. Tyler doubled, bringing home L Carter and Campbell.
After a quick strike from Crisp County, Bainbridge responded with three runs in the third. The Bearcats scored on a two-run double by Blake Merchant and an RBI double by Seth Hall.
Crisp County never surrendered the lead after the fourth inning, scoring five runs on a two-run double by L Carter, a groundout by Walls, and an RBI single by Campbell.
Bainbridge scored one run in the bottom of the fifth to cut its deficit to four.
Crisp County piled on three more runs in the top of the sixth. Hough kicked things off with a double. That was followed up by Pollock’s double, scoring #22 and Hough.
After pushing across three runs in the bottom of the seventh, Bainbridge faced just a 11-7 deficit. An RBI double by Dustin Strickland and a two-run single by Inlow set off Bainbridge’s rally.
