Brick Kinni’s effort not enough to carry Syrupmakers past Crisp Co. HS, 5-1

Cairo lost 5-1 in seven innings to Crisp County at home on Friday.

Emerson Hancock was charged with the loss. He lasted five innings, walked one, struck out five, and allowed four runs.

#15 got the win for Crisp Co. HS. He allowed one run over seven innings. He struck out 10, walked four and surrendered two hits.

Crisp Co. HS was sparked by #12 and #3, who teamed up for four hits and three RBIs.

Cairo reliever Brick Kinni only allowed one earned run, walked none and struck out three during his two innings of work.

The lone run of the game for Syrupmakers crossed the plate in the first inning on an RBI single by Koby Pyrz.

The game was never in doubt after the third, as Crisp Co. scored four runs on an RBI double by #18 and a two-run single by #12.

Cairo Syrupmakers JV outhits Chiles (FL) in 5-3 defeat

Cairo Syrupmakers JV lost 5-3 in seven innings at home on Thursday, despite outhitting Chiles High School of Tallahassee six to four.

#15 got the win for Chiles . He pitched three shutout innings. He struck out one, walked one and surrendered one hit.

Austin Shattles took the loss for Cairo Syrupmakers JV. He pitched  five innings, walked five, struck out two, and allowed four runs.

The bottom of the first saw Cairo’s JV take an early lead, 1-0. The Syrupmakers’ threat began with a double by Shattles. A groundout by Spence Cooper then moved Shattles from second to third. Asa Childree singled, bringing home Shattles.

The game’s last lead went to Chiles, thanks to a fourth inning rally that saw three runs cross the plate on a three-run home run by #11.

Chiles built upon its lead with two runs in the sixth. A wild pitch scored #8 to start the scoring in the inning.

Two runs in the bottom of the seventh helped Cairo Syrupmakers JV close its deficit to 5-3. A fielder’s choice and an RBI single by Emerson Hancock sparked Cairo Syrupmakers JV’s rally.
