Cairo Syrupmakers takes advantage of early error, beats Bainbridge 4-1

Three first-inning runs helped Syrupmakers to a 4-1 win over Bainbridge HS at Cairo on Tuesday.

Syrupmakers scored in the first on an error, a walk by Myles Knight, and a bases loaded walk by Stanton Long.

Drew Leverette had a hot bat for Syrupmakers. Leverette went 3-4 and scored one run. He singled in the first and second innings and doubled in the fourth inning.

Emerson Hancock struck out seven hitters en route to the Syrupmakers win. Hancock allowed one earned run, six hits and three walks over seven innings.

Long was the game’s losing pitcher. He lasted just five innings, walked five, struck out six, and allowed four runs.

The lone run of the game for Bainbridge HS came as Carson Inlow crossed the plate in the first inning on an RBI single by Will Kelley.
