The Seminole County Indians’ boys basketball team defeated Crawford County 76-71 in the Georgia Class AA state championship game on Friday afternoon.
Seminole County’s Jordan Harris scored 41 points. He scored 11 of his team’s final 13 points and made 5 of 6 free throws in the final minute, starting with the two that broke a 69-69 tie with 59.2 seconds left.
Harris also had 11 rebounds, six steals, four assists and one blocked shot. One of the steals came in final minute and he created a turnover by tipping away a pass on the subsequent possession.
Seminole County Coach Kevin Godwin said the community support was one of the keys to the team’s championship run. The Indian boys had 28 wins on the season; their only three losses were to local rival Bainbridge High School, which plays in Class AAAA.
Congratulations to the Calhoun County Cougars on winning the Geogia Class A boys basketball tournament. The Cougars beat Greenville 84-82, with DaJohn Williams leading the way with 18 points. Calhoun County finishes with 30 wins and only 2 losses on the season.
