Bainbridge Middle School boys team captain, Caleb Harris, in Bearcat purple
Coach Rick Lewis’ Bainbridge Middle School soccer teams both defeated Thomas County Central Middle School on Monday night at Centennial Field in Bainbridge.
The BMS Lady ‘Cats started the rout, beating Central’s middle school girls 1-0. BMS mid-fielder Jamya Brinson muscled her way down the center of the field and launched a devastating kick into the back of the net. Central tried but failed to respond with a goal of their own due in no small part to the solid defense put on by Taylor Emmons, Sandy Baker, and Tamiya Mosley.
The BMS boys continued the school’s winning night, defeating Central 2-1. After battling each other to a scoreless tie in the first half, Caleb Harris took the first goal early in the second half with an assist from mid-fielder Joe Emmons.
Triston Brannon secured the Bearcats’ second goal with a solid kick off a rebound in the middle of a crowded field in front of Central’s goal.
Thomasville’s only goal came from a penalty kick late in the game. Special mention must be made of Triston Love and Alfredo Rodrigues’ relentless defense of the Bearcats goal.
The Bearcats and Ladycats play next at home against Thomasville on Wednesday, March 4th at Centennial Field. The games start at 4:30 p.m.
