Bainbridge falls to R.F. Munroe, 6-2

Tyler Braswell struck out seven batters, but Bainbridge Bearcats varsity baseball still fell to R.F. Munroe 6-2 in seven innings on Friday at Bearcat Field.

Nolan Haire got the win for R.F. Munroe. He allowed two runs over seven innings. Haire struck out six, walked none and gave up two hits. He also hit two singles and scored a run in support of his team.

Braswell took the loss for Bainbridge, pitching five innings. Cayden McQuaig pitched two innings in relief.

The bottom of the second saw Bainbridge take an early lead, 2-0. Will Kelley started the rally for the Bearcats with a single. Bainbridge pushed more runs across when Kelley scored on a steal of home. Stan Long also chipped in a hit for BHS.

R.F. Munroe never surrendered the lead after the fifth inning, scoring two runs on an error.

Bainbridge’s varsity falls to 0-2-1, with the season just underway. The Bearcats will be back in action on Tuesday, Feb. 24 against Leon (Fla.) High School. Game time will be 4:30 p.m. in Tallahassee.
