The Bainbridge High School varsity baseball team lost its regular season home opener against Leon High School of Tallahassee by a score of 9-3.

The game was originally scheduled for 6 p.m. in Bainbridge but was moved up to 4 p.m., because of the threat of rain, which ended up not being a factor.

Both teams scored one run in the first inning, then the Leon Lions pulled ahead with 3 runs in the 5th.

Leon broke the game open by scoring 5 runs in the 6th. The Bearcats responded with 2 runs of their own in the 6th, but it was not enough to close the margin against the out-of-state opponent.

Keith Lyle Jr. had two hits for Bainbridge. Ty Varnum pitched 4 innings for BHS and Anderson Bailey pitched two innings in relief.
