Bainbridge City Council tentatively approves transfer of historic train engine to Kentucky town

The Bainbridge City Council has voted 5-1, with Councilwoman Roslyn Palmer dissenting, to allow historic steam train Engine 2132 to be moved from Bainbridge’s Earle May Boat Basin to a railroad museum in Corbin, KY.

The City Council’s action instructs the city manager to negotiate Corbin’s “best offer” for compensating Bainbridge for moving the historic train engine. City Councilman Luther Conyers said he wanted something of significance in return that Bainbridge could use to promote tourism and culture in place of the train.

More details will be posted as soon as possible.
