Catfish Harvest Kicking-Off Early at Go Fish Education Center

nebraska_catfishGrab a cooler and some ice! The Go Fish Education Center is opening its fishing pond for the October Catfish Harvest one week early this year.

Starting Sept. 27 and continuing through the month of October, visitors to the center will be able to catch and take home up to five catfish each from the fishing pond every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

To join in on the harvest, visit the center between 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and between 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. on Sundays. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors 65 and older, $3 for children and FREE for ages 2 and younger.

A valid Georgia fishing license is required for adults (age 16 and up) and can be purchased at the center or at www.georgiawildlife.com/licenses-permits-passes.

The harvest’s opening day festivities will also include the first annual “Pond to Plate” family festival, where staff will be on hand to give participants instruction on everything from tying knots and casting, to preparing and cooking their catch.

This event is scheduled for 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., with activities taking place throughout the day and door prizes being awarded.

The Go Fish Education Center is at 1255 Perry Parkway in Perry, adjacent to the Georgia National Fairgrounds. From I-75, take exit 134 and go east 3/4 mile.
