High school football returns with a bang to Flint Media with two huge matchups Friday night.
Kicking off the season for the Q 92.3 WQLI Game of the Week is the Flint River Rivalry between the Westwood Wildcats and the Southwest Georgia Academy Warriors. The Wildcats travel to Damascus Friday night in hopes of taking their 5th straight victory over the Warriors. Coverage begins at 7 p.m. Friday, August 22 on Q 92.3 WQLI.
The Rockin’ 106.3 WGMK game of the week could be memorable. The Early County Bobcats will take a long trip to Ocilla, Georgia, to take on the Irwin County Indians. These two teams had a heart-breaking end to their seasons last year.
The Bobcats ended last season in a 3-way tie for third in Region 1-AA but only two teams could make the playoffs and Early County ended up the odd man out. The Indians fell to Charlton County by one point in state semi-finals after their point-after kick attempt–that would have forced overtime–was blocked as time expired.
The stingy Bobcat defense will be facing a high powered Irwin County offense led by All-State selections Cam Morgan and Jakyron Young. Tune in to Rockin’ 106.3 WGMK on Friday, August 22, at 7 p.m. to catch the action.
