The Bainbridge High School varsity boys basketball team opened their first home game of the new year with a win over Thomasville, 97-93.
The win over Thomasville improves the Bearcats’s season record to 12-2. Scoring in double figures for the cats were Tyree Crump with 31, Devontae Jones with 17, Malik Middleton with 12, Trevon Shaw with 12 and Malik Lurry with 11.
The Lady Bearcats lost by two to Thomasville; their record is now 10-4 on the season.
Both BHS varsity squads are back in action this Friday night in Bainbridge against region opponent, Crisp County. Game times are 6 p.m. for the girls and 7:30 p.m. for the boys.
On Saturday night, the Bainbridge High School basketball teams will travel to face region rival, the Cairo High School Syrupmakers. Game times are 6 p.m. for the girls and 7:30 p.m. for the boys.

Bainbridge vs. Americus-Sumter, 12/3
The Bainbridge High School basketball teams traveled to Americus-Sumter, January 3, for their first games of 2015.
The Lady Bearcats were up against an undefeated team, as the Americus-Sumter varsity girls had a 12-0 record going into Saturday’s games. The Lady Cats played a great game and came away with a big 55-51 win. Scoring in double figures for the Lady Cats were Alex Carter with 19 and Patra Parris with 16.
The BHS boys came out hot and were up by 10 points in the first quarter, but the Panthers cut the lead at halftime, with BHS leading 29-24. The second half saw the panthers come out more aggressive, pressing up and down the floor but that did not stop the Bearcats, who won 73-66. Scoring in double figures for the Bearcats were Tyree Crump with 25, Malik Middleton with 16 points, and Trevon Shaw and Myles Thomas with 12.
