Thanksgiving is only a few days away and everyone is preparing for the big turkey day with the family but I am preparing for another big weekend of college football as well as turkey and dressing. Last week was a fun one so here we go with some Winners & Losers:
WINNERS
Arkansas Razorbacks – Yes, the Razorbacks are in the ‘Winners’ column again as they
are one of the hottest teams in college football. They broke their conference losing streak last week against their rival to the south, LSU, and this week they shut out the tenth ranked Rebels of Ole Miss on Saturday. The last two weeks they have outscored opponents 47-0 and the week before that Arkansas held Mississippi State to their lowest point total of the season in a seven point road loss. The Razorbacks have won three of their last four games and have a chance to play spoiler again this week as they travel to Columbia to take on the SEC East leading Missouri Tigers where all the Bulldogs eyes will be watching. Also, big shout out to Bainbridge, GA, native Rohan Gaines for his 100-yard interception return for a touchdown Saturday night in the Arkansas 30-0 win.

Arizona Wildcats – While a lot of the teams here on the East Coast get lots of publicity for their seasons, the Wildcats have managed to win 9 games and lost only twice and one of those losses was on a hail mary. Arizona got a big win on Saturday on the road against a very good Utah team in Rice-Eccles Stadium. Not only did the Wildcats get a big win, they controlled the game from the beginning with 21 straight game opening points and went on to rack up over 500 yards of offense in their 32 point road victory. The win keeps Arizona in the hunt for the Pac-12 South Championship as they host in-state rival Arizona State and need a UCLA loss all on Friday. Arizona head coach Rich Rodriguez has managed to turn the Wildcats into a Pac-12 Championship contender.
Missouri Tigers – When the Georgia Bulldogs fell to the Florida Gators in Jacksonville, 
giving the Tigers the lead in the SEC East, the common perception was that at some point Missouri would lose again. Three wins later, the Bulldog nation is still waiting as the Tigers got a big 29-21 road win over Tennessee. At one point late in the game Missouri held a 29-13 lead and held the Volunteers to well under 300 yards of total offense. Missouri quarterback Maty Mauk had himself a ball game as he threw for 230 yards on only 15 completions and two touchdowns. This week, the Tigers get to take the best shot from one of the hottest teams in America in Arkansas but they get to take their best shot at home.
LOSERS
Ole Miss Rebels – Oh how the mighty have fallen. The Rebels opened the season with 7 straight wins and were able to jump all the way to 4th in the polls. Since then Ole Miss is 1-3 
with their only win in that stretch being a 48-0 home win over FCS Presbyterian. Even with the two losses before their 30-0 drubbing in Fayetteville, the Rebels still remained at the number 8 spot in the College Football Playoff Poll. As of right now, Ole Miss has two wins over ranked opponents and two losses against ranked opponents but I guess that one win over Alabama at home is really helping the Rebs out as they still remain in the Top 20 of the aforementioned College Football Playoff Poll. How a team who got beat 30-0 by a 5-5 team is in the Top 20 is beyond me.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish – Yet again, oh how the mighty have fallen. The Fighting
Irish of Notre Dame are one of the many teams struggling with the post-Florida State flu and they have yet to kick bug. Since their near victory in Tallahassee, the Irish have gone 1-3 with their only win over Navy and an average margin of defeat in double digits. The latest loss comes at the hands of fellow new ACC member Louisville who also was struggling with that pesky post-FSU flu bug. It doesn’t get any easier for Notre Dame this week as they get to travel to Los Angeles to play an angry USC team.
Nebraska Cornhuskers – Oh Nebraska, why do you do this to your fans every year. Every season the Huskers win just enough games to be in that grey area on the ‘Fire The Coach’ scale. This season Nebraska has gone 8-3 thus far which isn’t a bad season at all but when you look at the grand scheme of things, you can’t help but wonder when they will make a change at the top. So far this season the Cornhuskers are 0-3 against ranked opponents including Saturday’s 28-24 loss to Minnesota who trailed Nebraska 21-7 at halftime, thus eliminating any hope of Nebraska representing the Western Division in the Big Ten Championship Game.
