Georgia State Senator Dean Burke (R-Bainbridge) joined other South Georgia legislators in making Georgia Governor Brian Kemp feel welcome on his visit to South Georgia last Friday.
Gov. Kemp and local leaders visited a manufacturing facility in Cairo that is expanding, with news that 50 new jobs could be created. Nivel Parts and Manufacturing, headquartered in Jacksonville, Fla., makes golf cart accessories and is expanding the Cairo facility it launched in early 2019. Kemp signed HB 168, HB 367, HB 491, and SB 67 in Cairo on Friday.
SB 67 makes it possible for local school districts to receive fast-track state funding to repair, update or replace portions of schools damaged by fire or other natural disasters, like Hurricane Michael. The schools covered by the law have to be 20 years or older.
Gov. Kemp also visited Coffee County and Valdosta, Ga., to sign other legislation.
Burke keeping active at the Capitol in Atlanta
On his Facebook page, State Senator Burke also shared a photo of himself, the Governor and other state leaders when Gov. Kemp signed a bill in Atlanta, Ga. earlier in the week.
