PRESS RELEASE
Injuries Reported on 4th of July:
Bainbridge Public Safety is requesting the help of citizens who may have witnessed two separate incidents in which pedestrians were injured by fireworks. The first incident occurred around 9:30pm on July 4th near Dairy Queen at the intersection of Shotwell and River Streets. A gray Dodge pickup truck shot a firework from the truck window directly at a female pedestrian walking along the street, causing injuries. The truck was driven by a white male, and had multiple passengers.
The second incident occurred at the Boat Basin during the fireworks show around 10:00pm. A woman and her 10 year old daughter were directly hit by a firework shot by a group of young black males. Both received injuries from the exploding firework.
Anyone who has information or may know who is responsible for either incident (the drive-by Dodge truck or the group at the Boat Basin) is asked to call BPS at 229-248-2038 and ask for Major James Dollar. You can remain anonymous.
Persons can also use the BPS Anonymous Tip Line on our website: http://www.bainbridgecity.com/department/divisions.php?structureid=33
