Counting today, October 29th, voters have three voting days remaining to cast their ballots in local municipal elections being held across Southwest Georgia.
In Donalsonville, voters will choose a representative for the Donalsonville City Council District I Post 2, selecting either Rebecca C. Grantham, Incumbent and Administrator of Bainbridge Health and Rehab or Travis Brooks, retired City of Donalsonville Fire Chief and part-time EMA Director.
In the Special Election to elect Buddy Roberts’ successor to the Board of Education, District 4, Alan Ingram, retired educator and former Seminole County head football coach, will face Dr. Michael Kirkland, Bainbridge State College professor.
As of Wednesday, 85 ballots had been cast in person in Donalsonville and 27 absentee ballots had been requested and mailed.
In Bainbridge, people who live in Bainbridge City Council District A will choose between 3 candidates who are vying to fill the City Council seat currently held by Luther Conyers, who is retiring from the council. The three candidates for the Bainbridge City Council are mortician Kregg Close, optometrist Frank Flowers and certified housing counselor Olive Wedderburn.
Advance voting for the elections continues for two more days during regular business hours, 8:30 a.m. through 5 p.m., until 5 p.m. on Friday, October 30, in the Office of the Probate Court in Donalsonville.
In Bainbridge, voters in City Council District A can vote at either the County Fairgrounds on Vada Road or at the Board of Elections office in Decatur County Courthouse Annex on Water Street.
The final opportunity to vote in these elections will be at the polling place in your precinct on Election Day, November 3.
The deadline for the registrars to receive an application for an absentee ballot is Friday, Oct. 30 at 5 p.m. No absentee ballot may be voted on the day of the election. Any absentee ballot, which has been voted prior to the day of the election, will not be counted unless it reaches the registrars’ office by 7:00 p.m. on the day of the election.
Georgia law, O.C.G.A. § 21-2-417, requires all voters to present a photo identification prior to casting their ballot. Voters must bring one of the following six forms listed on page 10A of this edition.
