When it comes to big game atmospheres there are very few stadiums that rival Jordan-Hare Stadium. Named after Ralph ‘Shug’ Jordan, the winningest coach in Tiger history, Cliff Hare, former player, Dean of the Auburn School of Chemistry as well as the commissioner of the Southern Conference, Jordan-Hare Stadium has become one of the most electrifying stadiums in all of college football. During pregame ceremonies, Auburn’s War Eagle circles the stadium before landing on the field in a ceremony over 100 years old.
Jordan-Hare Stadium came from very humble beginnings just like most stadiums in the country. When it was first built it held 15,000 seats but most of Auburn’s biggest games were played elsewhere. It wasn’t until the last half of last century that Auburn was able to play rival teams like Auburn, Alabama and Georgia Tech at their home stadium instead of neutral sites. Jordan-Hare Stadium has gone through a number of renovations in the last couple decades and each one gets better than the last with the most recent addition being the largest video board in college football measuring in at a whopping 190-feet wide and 57-feet tall!
