Kolomoki Mounds State Park will host a “Project WILD/Aquatic WILD” educator training workshop to help educators learn how to incorporate wildlife education into their curriculum.
The workshop will be held Saturday, August 29, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the state park in Blakely, Ga., and is open to teachers of all subjects.
Project WILD/Aquatic WILD are wild-life focused conservation education programs with hands-on activities designed for integration into existing courses of study for formal and non-formal educators, K through 12.
Based on the premise that young people and educators alike have an interest in learning about our natural world, this program underscores wildlife’s intrinsic value, and addresses the need for us all to be responsible stewards of our planet. At this workshop, participants will be introduced to Project WILD/Aquatic WILD materials, activities, and strategies.
The workshop will include an overview of the program, participation in Project WILD/Aquatic WILD activities, and information about the wildlife in Georgia. Participants will also receive the Project WILD and Aquatic WILD K-12 Curriculum and activity guides that provide hands on activities that can be used in a classroom. The Project WILD/Aquatic WILD educator training workshop will be held at Group Shelter #2. Please bring your lunch.
Registration forms can be picked up at Kolomoki Mounds State Park, Early County Board of Education or found online at www.gastateparks.org/KolomokiMounds. You can find out more information on the workshop at its Facebook event page.
