The reigning two-time SEC East champions were dealt a pretty good hand in 2015. The Tigers open the season with FCS opponent Southeast Missouri State and follow that up with a road game against Arkansas State which baffles me unless the two coaches know one another and from my research they’ve never crossed paths professionally. Regardless the Tigers finish up the month of September against Connecticut at home & Kentucky on the road, two teams with 7 combined wins in 2014.
The Tigers open the month of October with South Carolina at home, a game that has been decided by 4 points and two overtime periods in the last two seasons. The next week Missouri will welcome the Florida Gators to town who the Tigers have defeated by an average score of 39-15 over the last two seasons. Missouri will follow that up with a pair of road games against the Georgia Bulldogs & the Vanderbilt Commodores before reaching their bye week on October 31st.
There isn’t an east opponent in the month of November for Missouri. They open the month on a Thursday night in Starkville against the Mississippi State Bulldogs in the first conference game between the two schools. The following week Missouri will play a neutral site game in Kansas City (not very neutral if you ask me) against Brigham Young University, a team who was rolling pretty well last season before their starting quarterback broke his leg. On November 21st, the Tennessee Volunteers come calling in Columbia followed by a road game in Fayetteville, Arkansas, against the Razorbacks on Black Friday.
The Missouri Tigers in no way face a difficult schedule in 2015 but it does have a couple pitfalls that could derail the Tigers’ attempt at a third straight SEC East crown.
