MHG’s Paul Pereira to Speak at RSB General Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland

MHG_Logo-smallBAINBRIDGE, Ga.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Biopolymer Company, MHG, is pleased to announce that Chief Executive Officer Paul Pereira will be speaking at the Roundtable of Sustainable Biomaterials 2015 General Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland. This is the third RSB General Assembly Meeting, and is being hosted on June 2 and June 3, 2015.

“The RSB General Assembly brings agricultural specialists, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), experts, governments and inter-government agencies from around the world together to talk about sustainability and different initiatives that can assist in making a better and cleaner planet,” stated Pereira. “I am honored to share MHG’s story with attendees and participate in thought-provoking discussions about feedstocks and sustainability. During the event, Pereira will give a presentation regarding the advances and innovative technologies that MHG has to offer for production of bioplastics and sustainable feedstocks. He will also participate as a member in the second panel moderated by Henrique Pacini of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

The event will have four panels with topics including Aviation Biofuels, 2nd Generation Feedstocks and Sustainability, Trans-Atlantic Approaches to Bioplastics and Promoting an Informed Debate on the Bioeconomy. Speakers will come from a wide range of organizations including Boeing, Nestlé Research Center, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Tetra Pak and World Wide Fund of Nature (WWF). The second day will conclude with workshops on implementation of RSB standards and the revision of the RSB principles and criteria.

The Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterial is an international organization, which was originally set up in 2007 to ensure the sustainability of liquid biofuels for transport and expanded in 2013 to cover biomaterials.

Prior to this event, MHG announced a new contract with global food service provider Tate & Lyle. As part of the contract, MHG will support the production of Tate & Lyle’s Staramic® Starch line. MHG’s 100% biodegradable PHA also received the first-ever Vinçotte Certification for Marine Biodegradability, which became available this past March.
