Kenny Chesney concert, Rose Show and Festival highlight weekend fun

Thomasville Ga. is the home of a famous Rose Show and Festival each April.

With spring bringing warmer weather, there are plenty of fun activities for people in Southwest Georgia and the surrounding area.

Kenny Chesney, a Nashville country superstar since the 1990s, brings his 2019 “Songs for the Saints” world tour to the Tallahassee Civic Center on Friday, April 26. David Lee Murphy, who did the song “Dust on the Bottle,” among other hits, will open for Chesney, as well as up-and-coming singer Caroline Jones. Tickets are still available from the venue’s website.

Many in South Georgia will be headed to the 98th Annual Rose Show and Festival in Thomasville, Ga., this weekend. The festival starts Thursday and continues through Saturday.

The Rose Festival parade will be held Friday night at 7 p.m., with a downtown street dance following at 8:30 p.m. A fireworks show will cap off a night of fun at 10 p.m. Friday.
