BPS: Traffic Stop Leads to Felony Drug Arrests

Traffic Stop Leads to Felony Drug Arrests

Just after 9pm on Wednesday, April 10th, Officer Timothy Shaw performed a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling south on Tallahassee Highway in front of Home Depot.  As Shaw approached the driver, later identified as Lee David Burroughs, he explained that he had been stopped for erratic driving.  Burroughs began acting anxious, making Shaw suspicious, so he asked for consent to search the vehicle.  Burroughs stated that the vehicle didn’t belong to him but to his passenger, later identified as Lisa Marie Chinell.  Chinell consented to a search of her vehicle.  During the search, Shaw located a container underneath the driver’s seat which was found to contain heroin, methamphetamine, Xanex (Alprazolam), syringes, butane torches, and other items associated with drug use.  Shaw also discovered that Burroughs was driving on a suspended license.   Both occupants were handcuffed and searched for any weapons.  During the search, a glass pipe, commonly used for drugs, was found in Chinell’s boot.
