Flood warnings issued for Flint River, Spring Creek

The Flint River in Georgia

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Flint River at multiple locations, including Bainbridge. A flood warning is also in effect for the Spring Creek. The flood warnings are in effect through Friday, Dec. 7.

As of 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday, the Flint River measured 24.27 feet at the U.S. Geological Service’s river gage. The Flint River is expected to rise above the flood stage of 25 feet, but crest at just above flood stage on Thursday afternoon

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

All persons with interest along the river should monitor the latest
forecasts, and be prepared to take necessary precautions to protect
life and property. Do not drive cars through flooded areas. If you
see flood waters: Turn around. Don`t drown.

conditions and click on your river point.

The Flood Warning continues for
  the Flint River at Bainbridge (US 27).
* Until Friday morning.
* At  9:45 AM Wednesday the stage was 24.2 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 25.0 feet.
* Forecast: Rise above flood stage by tonight and continue to rise to
  near 25.3 feet by Thursday early afternoon. The river will fall
  below flood stage by tomorrow late evening.

The Flood Warning continues for the Spring Creek near Iron
City (CR 16).
* Until further notice.
* At 11:30 AM Wednesday the stage was 17.8 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Forecast: The river will continue rising to near 18.0 feet by
  tonight then begin falling.
* Impact: At 18.0 feet: Flood waters approach homes near Yates Road
  and Smith Landing.
