BPS: Reckless Driver Busted for DUI, Battery

Bainbridge Public Safety arrested 31 year old Timothy Daniel Gibson Monday night after receiving a call about a reckless driver leaving skid marks in the grass of a man’s front yard.  Upon arrival, BPS Officer Jason Barlow made contact with the complainant who stated that a red and white GMC or Chevrolet truck was driving recklessly on College Street and in the area of Bruton Street.  The complainant also stated that the truck had driven through his front yard (leaving skid marks) and struck an object in the neighboring parking lot.

While searching for the suspect vehicle, PSO Barlow made contact with Timothy Gibson  in the front yard of 615 College Street, just down the street. Gibson stated that he had seen a truck driving recklessly, but that it was a blue Ford Ranger, not a red and white GMC or Chevrolet as had been previously reported.

As Barlow continued his search, he saw a red and white GMC pick up leave the yard at 615 College Street – where he had previously spoken with Timothy Gibson.  A female witness and the original complainant also alerted Barlow to the truck.  A traffic stop was initiated and Barlow made contact with the driver, Timothy Gibson – the same man who stated the truck in question was a blue Ford Ranger, not a GMC.

During the traffic stop, Georgia State Patrol Trooper G.M. Kelly, along with a training cadet, arrived to assist.  Barlow turned the traffic stop over to Trooper Kelley, but not before noticing a strong odor of alcohol coming from Gibson.  Barlow was also notified by BPS Officer Prindle that Gibson had been involved in an earlier domestic dispute that left his wife and another woman with injuries.

Gibson was arrested and transported to Bainbridge Public Safety where he was charged with DUI, tire requirements, reckless driving and driving while license not on person.  Gibson was also charged with simple battery and battery (family violence).
