Flint River Flood Warning Extended

The National Weather Service in Tallahassee has extended the flood warning for the Flint River through Saturday.  With a predicted crest of 25.9 feet, the flood stage is considered minor.  Last January, the Flint River reached a height of 30.28 feet, reaching the 11th highest mark in recorded history.  The flood of 1994 reached a height of 37.20 feet.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

All persons with interest along the river should monitor the latest
forecasts, and be prepared to take necessary precautions to protect
life and property. Do not drive cars through flooded areas. If you
see flood waters: Turn around. Don`t drown.

...Flood Warning extended until Saturday morning...

The Flood Warning continues for the Flint River at Bainbridge (US 27).
* From late Tuesday night, or until the warning is cancelled.
* At  7:45 PM Monday the stage was 22.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 25.0 feet.
* Forecast: Rise above flood stage by Wednesday morning and continue
  to rise to near 25.9 feet by Thursday morning. The river will fall
  below flood stage by early Saturday morning.
* Impact: At 25 feet: Minor lowland flooding begins.
