The National Weather Service has issued a FLOOD WARNING for the Flint River in Decatur County.

The FLOOD WARNING for the Flint River in Bainbridge continues until further notice.

 

Current River Reading as of 9:45 a.m.:          21.44 feet

 

The NWS forecast issued at 9:22 a.m., Monday, January 23, 2017: 

The Flood Warning continues for the Flint River at Bainbridge (US 27).

* Until further notice.

* At 9:45 AM Monday the stage was 21.44 feet.

* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* Flood stage is 25.0 feet.

* Forecast: The river will continue rising to near 25.4 feet by late Wednesday then begin falling.

 

Historical crests for the Flint River in Bainbridge:

37.20 feet on 7/14/1994          34.65 feet on 3/13/1998          30.91 feet on 4/7/2009      29.35 feet on 4/1/2005

 

Residents in low lying and flood prone areas should closely monitor weather conditions.

Mandatory evacuations are not being made at this time. Residents should make preparations to protect life and property.

No local shelters have been opened at this time.

Sandbags are available for citizens at the Decatur County Correctional Institute at the Butler Ferry Rd entrance.
