A shoplifter hit two Decatur County businesses this week, stealing more than $1500 worth of goods, but was quickly busted in Gadsden County.
According to Decatur County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Robert Humphrey, a call came in to respond to an alleged shoplifting at the Dollar General on Griffin Avenue in Attapulgus. On surveillance video, the investigators saw a male and two female suspects pushing a large trash can out of the front door of the business. Because the suspects had already left the scene, DCSO notified neighboring jurisdictions, including the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office.
A short time later, the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office stopped the suspects’ vehicle on Highway 27, just north of the Havana City Limits. Inside the car they discovered a trash can from Dollar General with more than $500 worth of shoplifted items inside. The search of the vehicle also revealed another trash can that was stolen from Wal Mart with more than $1100 worth of shoplifted items inside.
Investigators contacted the Bainbridge Wal Mart and confirmed that the inventory was stolen from that location by using surveillance video that identified the man in the car.
41 year old Lashorne Bostick, of Tallahassee, was arrested and charged with two felony counts of shoplifting.
Lt. Brian Donalson, Supervisor of the Criminal Investigations Division and the Career Criminals Unit with the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office said, “If you shoplift from Decatur County and run to Florida, we will have you arrested and extradited back to Georgia.”
