Missing Man’s Body Found in Decatur County

According to Lt. Brian Donalson with the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, the body that was discovered in Decatur County last week was identified as the missing person reported just a few days prior.  

Josh Owens, 31, was found deceased in a wooded area near the 2000 block of Dothan Road on Thursday, August 18 around 4:30 p.m.  According to the previous story, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was handling the investigation and had taken the body to the the crime lab for an autopsy and official cause of death.  At this time, law enforcement officials believe the death was health related and there is no foul play suspected.

Lt. Donalson, the Supervisor of Investigations and the DCSO Career Criminal Unit, stated that the GBI Agent for the Bainbridge region was actually on scene when the body was discovered.  The GBI’s crime scene unit arrived on scene and conducted the investigation in conjunction with the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office.
