WEATHER: Wednesday Brings High Winds, Cooler Temperatures




According to the National Weather Service, southwest Georgia will see significant winds throughout Wednesday morning, with gusts as high as 40 mph.  The high winds, coupled with saturated grounds, could lead to fallen trees, power outages and property damage.

Detailed Forecast

Overnight  Showers and thunderstorms. Some storms could be severe, with large hail and damaging winds. Low around 63. Breezy, with a south wind around 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday  Showers and thunderstorms before 10am, then a chance of rain between 10am and 1pm. Some of the storms could be severe. High near 66. Windy, with a south southwest wind 20 to 25 mph increasing to 25 to 30 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday Night  Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 20 mph.

Thursday  Sunny, with a high near 61. West wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
