Tuesday Night / Wednesday Morning Weather Update (Tues 4:30 p.m.)

Here are the details from the National Weather Service briefing to the Decatur County Emergency Management Agency on Tuesday afternoon:

“Key Points for this event:

Potentially significant severe weather outbreak to occur across the
region tonight

1. Severe thunderstorms will approach the region late this evening and
progress through the region overnight.

2. All forms of severe weather expected
a. scattered tornadoes – some of significant intensity
b. destructive winds in excess of 70 mph
c. large hail – in excess of golf ball size

3. Overall timing:
a. Dothan/Panama City: 11 pm CT to 2 am CT
b. Tallahassee/Albany: 4 am ET to 7 am ET
c. Valdosta/Cross City: 7 am ET to 10 am ET

4. Strong winds of 30 to 40 mph will occur throughout the day on
Wednesday behind the cold front. After a widespread rain, additional
downed trees are likely.”
