The 13th annual River Town Days festival will be held Friday, March 11 and Saturday March 12, 2016 at the Earl May Boat Basin in Bainbridge. This year’s event will feature the Flames on the Flint BBQ cook-off, free stage entertainment by the Kinchafoonee Cowboys, kids rides and activities and more.
The Flames on the Flint BBQ cookoff, a Kansas City BBQ Society sanctioned event will once again be held along the banks of the Flint River with BBQ celebrities such as Johnny Trigg competing for a $50,000 grand prize. The contestants will compete for the title of Grand Champion, with the winners announced Saturday during the wrap up of the festival. Visitors to the festival can taste the competition BBQ in the People’s Choice Award benefitting Family Connection by purchasing plates for just $10. Once again, there will be a Big Green Egg Raffle sponsored by Stones Home Centers, benefitting the Bearcat Baseball Boosters.
The Kinchafoonee Cowboys will take the stage Friday night at 6:00 p.m. for a night of free entertainment. Saturday, Blue Holler, a local bluegrass band from Thomasville will take the stage at 1:00 p.m.
New this year, the kids rides and activities will be open on Friday at 3:00 p.m. Traditionally, the kids activities were reserved for Saturday only, however, with the Decatur County Schools being closed on Friday, the RiverTown Days Committee made the decision to expand into Friday. The activities and rides will be available Saturday from 10:00 – 5:00 p.m. as well. Armbands for unlimited rides are only $10.
