The Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a man they believe is responsible for breaking into two convenience stores in Mitchell County.

In the most recent incident, someone broke through the glass front door of Godwin’s Grocery, located on County Line Road, early Thursday morning, Oct. 15. The thief was only able to take lottery tickets before fleeing from the store.

The first incident, in which a man attempted to break into a building but wasn’t able to make entry, happened at Aden’s Mini Mart on U.S. Highway 19 in Pelham.

The suspect is described as a a black man, bald-headed with a goatee beard, about six feet in height and weighing about 195 pounds, according to Investigator Matthew Miller. Police believe it’s the same man seen in surveillance video taken at both stores.

At Godwin’s Grocery, the suspect is seen wearing a “do-rag” and a hoodie-style jacket. But in the Aden’s Mini Mart incident, the suspect is not wearing a mask, any gloves nor any jacket.
