Bainbridge softball wraps up season in first round of state playoffs

After a successful season which saw the Bainbridge Lady Bearcats varsity softball team advance to the state playoffs, their season ended Wednesday night with two losses to the Walnut Grove Lady Warriors of Loganville, Ga.

Walnut Grove defeated Bainbridge 12-0 in the first game of the best-of-three series, and eliminated the Lady Bearcats in the second game by a score of 17-2.

In the first game, Walnut Grove pitcher Kayla Poynter threw a no-hitter, striking out ten Lady Bearcat batters in the process. Reilly Fletcher and Abigail Gardner pitched for the Lady Bearcats.

The second game started out close, with the Lady Bearcats only trailing 4-2 after three innings. Morgan Cannon was the only Lady Bearcat to reach base with a hit; three other players walked and one reached base after being hit by a pitch.

What a great night, what a great season! These girls have worked hard and we couldn't be more proud. They are State Bound so y'all cheer them on!
