A 16-run explosion in the first inning carried the Bainbridge Lady Bearcats varsity softball team to a 16-0 win in four innings over Dougherty on Monday. The game was a makeup game from a game that was rained out last week.
The Lady Bearcats scored in the first on an RBI single by Mabry Grace Briggs, a steal of home by Briggs, an RBI single by Morgan Cannon, a groundout by Haley Thompson, a two-run double by Shelbie Summerlin, an RBI single by Taylor Swanner, an RBI triple by Briggs, an RBI single by Mckynleigh Harrell, an RBI double by Tori Sprenkle, an RBI double by Cannon, a wild pitch, a steal of home by Desirae Beachem, an RBI double by Thompson, an RBI triple by Summerlin, and an RBI single by Swanner.

Abigail Gardner got the win for Bainbridge, pitching three shutout innings. Gardner struck out three, walked one and gave up three hits.
Bainbridge easily handled Dougherty pitching, as seven hitters combined for 13 hits, 11 RBIs and 13 runs scored.
Kierra Barney couldn’t get it done on the rubber for Dougherty, taking a loss. She allowed 16 runs in two innings, walked four and struck out none.
The varsity Lady Bearcats will play Worth County in Sylvester, Ga. on Tuesday afternoon. The Bainbridge Middle School softball team will host a doubleheader vs. Miller County at 4 p.m. Wednesday. On Thursday, Bainbridge’s varsity will host Monroe in Bainbridge, and BMS will travel to Thomasville.
