A Grady County, GA, man fatally shot his wife on Sunday, July 19 before apparently taking his own life with a gun, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
At approximately 8:30 a.m. Sunday, George Sandefur, 55, shot his wife, 39-year-old Jamie Sandefur, at her residence at 499 Jordon Road in Grady County, north of Cairo, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Grady County Sheriff’s deputies responded and found Jamie Sandefur passed away at the scene.
George Sandefur then drove to a residence at 281 Hines-Perkins Road, in eastern Decatur County between Climax and Whigham, and shot himself. Mr. Sandefur was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he later died, according to the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, which responded to Hines-Perkins Road.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating the circumstances of the shootings with assistance from the Sheriff’s Offices in Grady and Decatur Counties.
George Sandefur was previously arrested on June 28, 2015 for Simple Battery-Family Violence and Terroristic Threats where Jamie Sandefur was the victim, according to the GBI.
