Hot bats not enough, Bainbridge Middle School Bearcats succumbs to Whigham, 14-13

The Bainbridge Middle School Bearcats lost a battle of the bats on Thursday at Whigham, falling short in a 14-13 ballgame against Whigham.

Cooper, Touchton, Dollar and Beddingfield helped lead Whigham. They combined for eight hits and nine RBIs.

Bainbridge Middle School jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. A single by Caleb Varnum, plating Miles Holloway started the inning off.

Whigham put up two runs of its own in the second, and scored five runs in their half of the third inning.

The momentum then swung in the Bearcats’ favor, as they scored four runs in the fifth inning and five runs in the sixth inning, to make the score 13-9 in BMS’ favor.

Whigham scored one run in the sixth inning, and then followed it up with one more in the eighth. In the sixth, Whigham scored on a groundout by Dollar, scoring Touchton.

BHS offensive leaders were Miles Hollaway, who went 3 for 5 with 3 RBIs and four runs scored; Caleb Varnum, who went 3 for 4 with 4 RBIs and a run scored; and Wesley Morrow, who went 2 for 2 with 2 RBIs.
